2019-09-25T14:49:42.897Z

Thüringen decides on 27 October about the future power relations in the state parliament. The Election O-Mat tells you which party is most likely to defend your views.

Can Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) continue his red-red-green coalition government after October 27? According to recent polls, the coalition no longer holds a majority. In the Free State, a difficult government formation is emerging.

The current Alliance of Left, SPD and Greens would receive only 43 percent according to a representative survey by Infratest dimap. This is particularly due to the weakness of the Social Democrats. They are threatened with a historically bad result.

As in the elections in Saxony and Brandenburg, the AfD can also count on a considerable increase in votes in Thuringia. It comes in most surveys to more than 20 percent, taking second place.

Nevertheless, the CDU around its top candidate Mike Mohring still hopes to be able to represent the prime minister in the future. The conservatives are usually in the polls behind the left and AfD in third place. They would have to grow strongly in the coming weeks to save their chance for the electoral victory - and then there is the question of the coalition partners. The Union has excluded AfD as a partner.

Around 1.8 million people are called to the state election on 27 October. 18 parties compete. Migration, climate protection, pensions: topics that are also discussed at the federal level determine the current election campaign - but also questions about education and security.

With the election O-Mat of the SPIEGEL as well as the Federal Central Office and the Thuringian State Office for Civic Education you can test which of the political parties best represents your political views.

Is the financial support of Erfurt-Weimar Airport still useful? Should be more consistently deported? Is a bigger video surveillance needed in public places?

You can position yourself for a total of 38 theses, with one click you can agree, reject or adjust. In the end, you can also weight answers if a question is particularly important to you. Then the election O-Mat shows which parties are closest to your position.

Take the test and compare your views with the answers of the parties:
