The branch of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in Hama is working to restore its role and presence in the labor market by qualifying entrepreneurs and attracting job seekers to establish their projects and training them in how to manage and market their production in a way that achieves economic and productive benefits that benefit them financially.
Ghassan Gerges, director of the authority’s branch, told the SANA reporter that the branch is concerned with establishing training and qualification courses for those wishing to establish various small and medium-sized projects that form the nucleus of future expandable business sectors and are able to achieve material revenues for their owners and support the national economy.
And that these courses, which are held free of charge in cooperation with the "ICARD" Academy for Professional and Technical Sciences, aim to create job opportunities for participants, especially young people whose conditions of war have affected their lives and find it difficult to secure job opportunities, stressing that there is a response and support by the authority's management of any idea or course Or a project being proposed by the Hama branch in this regard.
With regard to promotional activities for projects between Gerges, the Authority’s branch is keen to participate in various exhibitions in the governorates, within the context of the authority’s program to promote products and projects that are faltering or that suffer from poor marketing of their products, indicating that the Authority’s branch takes care of the entire residence expenses of the participants for the duration of the exhibition while providing a place The exhibition and its requirements are free of charge. In this regard, participation took place in exhibitions held in Tartous, Lattakia and Homs, in addition to the Damascus International Exhibition and the Al-Bassel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention, in which the Public Authority was devoted to pavilions.
On the difficulties facing the authority’s branch and proposals to overcome it, the director of the authority’s branch in Hama revealed that one of the most prominent current difficulties is the return of financial support and financing for small and medium projects with the granting of concessions to their owners and pioneers, the most prominent of which is the extension of the grace period by one year before starting to pay the installments to give the opportunity to establish projects with proper establishment and take off in addition to giving projects Small
The medium is more flexible in obtaining its establishment licenses from the concerned authorities, and more importantly, the authority should have its own fund to directly finance projects instead of the method that was prevalent in the previous period by relying on banks for financing and the routine and complications of its work that burden the project owners.
Gerges said that the success of small and medium projects depends on 50 percent financing by the authority, and the rest should be undertaken by the project owner to ensure that he is serious about establishing the project and is keen on its success.
And on the importance of training courses held by the authority, Mahmoud Al-Sheikh Maree, who participated in the accounting course and is the owner of the store selling clothes and shoes, made great use of the accounting course in the fields of accounting assets and the preparation of invoices for sales and purchases, discards and deductions, and how to pay through the bank, even though his educational achievement is average.
