Last August, it was reported that in 2014, Edri, then the commander of the Haifa police station, transferred a few thousand shekels to a senior criminal in the Crimea area, following his son's gambling debt. Edri, his son and others involved were then summoned to give evidence in the DIP, but were not investigated as suspects. According to some sources, Adri admitted to having paid for a loan he had taken, and in the DIP thought his conduct did not raise suspicion of criminal activity.

Edri's retirement comes as the Chief of Police, Moti Cohen, is in the background, as Minister of Public Security Gilad Arden recently intended to appoint a permanent commissioner of police, but decided to freeze the procedure.
