The birth that sparked a spark of hope at the Mexico Zoo: A tiny baby was born two weeks ago to the Bengal Tiger family.
According to a Reuters report, the news of the new occupant joining as the corona epidemic spreads worldwide has been successful in encouraging staff at the Cordoba Zoo in the east of the country, who decided to give the newborn the name "Cubid" inspired by the COVID-19 virus.
The cute cubid's birth surprised the staff, who were in despair at the severe epidemic. "We didn't know he was on the way," she told Reuters Kitzia Rodriguez, the daughter of the zoo's veterinarian on the scene. "It has a big impact because the situation is difficult for everyone, including us. I think giving birth, despite the situation, will help us and give us hope to continue so we can get visitors. Cubid is a gift."
The zoo where Cubid was born is known for its activities for the care and rescue of animals from circuses or from people who hold them as part of a private "exotic" collection. The 8-year-old little tiger's mother was found in a circus and transferred to the garden after needing surgery due to a hip fracture. The puppy’s father, 6, joined the preschool after injuring his mouth when he bit into a vase in the private home where he was being held.
