More than 600,000 cases of new coronavirus have been officially declared worldwide since the start of the pandemic, according to a count made by AFP from official sources on Saturday March 28th.

At least 605,010 cases of infection, among which 27,982 deaths, were detected in 183 countries and territories, notably in the United States which has 104,837 cases including 1,711 deaths, in Italy, the country hardest hit in number of deaths which deplores 9,134 victims. China, the initial source of the virus, has identified 55 new cases, including one local.
However, the number of cases diagnosed only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections, with a large number of countries now testing only those cases requiring hospital care.
