Getting tangled again: Democratic candidate for US president Joe Biden was interviewed on Friday for the "Breakfast Club" radio show by African-American presenter Charlemagne, saying he is "not black" if he is still debating who to vote in the upcoming November elections.

Joe Biden to African American presenter: "You're not black"

Biden's remarks drew many criticisms from various directions in the US political and civic spectrum across social networks from President Donald Trump's campaign executives and Republican supporters, as well as from African-American Democrats.

During the interview, the interviewer addressed Biden's long history of race. In one of the questions referred to the former vice president, he asked whether Biden would choose an African American woman as his deputy, and it was evident that the candidate's adviser was trying to end the interview.

Responding to the attempts, the presenter said "You can't do that to black media" and Biden responded - "I do this to white media too, simply because my wife needs my help," and looked at the clock. The applicant then invited the candidate to return to the program after being vacated and said he had more questions about the upcoming election.

"I'm telling you what, if you're still not sure who will support the upcoming election, then you're not black," Biden stated in response to the petitioner's request, leading to a large protest across the net.

After the interview was published, a major protest arose across social networks. In a conference call organized by President Trump's campaign executives, African-American Senator Tim Scott said Biden's remarks were "arrogant and humiliating." On the other side, Biden's advisor Simon Sanders claimed in her Twitter account that the comments were laughed at.

Back then, the former vice president apologized: "I probably shouldn't be smart," he said in a conversation with a group of African-American business people. He added: "I never took the black voters for granted."
