For the first time in history: A delegation from the United Arab Emirates plans to pay a visit to Israel on September 22 in order to establish the normalization agreements between the countries, a knowledgeable source told Reuters today (Monday).
According to the report, Israeli officials declined to comment and UAE officials did not respond to the information.
As you may recall, last month the two countries announced an agreement to normalize relations mediated by the United States.
The visit of the delegation, which has not yet been finally organized, will follow the visit of the Israeli-American delegation to Dubai last week, headed by senior adviser Jared Kushner and the head of the National Security Council, Meir Ben Shabbat.
The source said that the UAE estimates that the final date for the visit will be determined after the signing ceremony of the peace agreement between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the leader of the UAE.
This ceremony, according to the source, will probably be held in Washington.
Whoever will be present on behalf of the Arab Federation will most likely be Regent Muhammad bin Zayed, who serves as the de facto leader in the federation in light of his brother's health problems.
