Seven deadly fires broke out on a tenement house on Canton Road in Yau Ma Tei on Sunday (15th) night. It is understood that most of the dead and injured were Nepalese, including boys and girls.

At 8 o'clock in the evening, a Nepalese restaurant on the lower floor of a commercial and residential building on Canton Road caught fire.

The firefighters arrived at the scene, dispatched a hood-smoke team, and used a throat to fight the blaze.

Eighteen people were injured at the scene, of which seven were certified dead after rescue.

Yau Tsim Mong District Councillor Ho Fu-wing was assisting residents at the scene of the fire. A neighborhood told him that he heard the explosion.

So far, the neighbourhood has not received help for temporary accommodation, but the District Council has contacted the Civil Affairs Commissioner and will make arrangements if the neighbourhood needs it.

According to the Information Services Department, as of midnight on Monday (16th), among the 18 people who were sent to hospital, 4 men died after being sent to Kwong Wah Hospital and 3 women died after being sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital; the situation of the other 7 people Critical, including 1 male and 3 female wounded in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, 2 male wounded in Kwong Wah Hospital, and 1 female wounded in Princess Margaret Hospital; and 1 female wounded in Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital each in serious condition; As for Caritas Medical’s acceptance of the two men injured, one is in stable condition and one has been discharged.
