A deadly fire broke out in Yau Ma Tei tonight (15th), causing 7 deaths and 11 injuries.

The fire alarm was roughly put out after 8 minutes.

According to sources, the scene of the fire was a Nepalese restaurant. A child was holding a birthday party and at least nine relatives attended.

According to one injured person, he saw candles lighted outside the door of the site, and suspected that the insulation panel was burning, causing a fire.

According to the fire department, the area of ​​the fire was about 5 meters by 15 meters. It was an open space with multiple dining tables. The trapped people were concentrated near the kitchen. Among them, 7 are in critical condition, 2 are in serious condition, and 1 is stable; the other one has been discharged from hospital.

The fourth team of the Regional Crime Squad of West Kowloon has taken over the investigation. The initial investigation by the police revealed that the burning unit was a restaurant. Celebrations were taking place at the time of the incident. During the incident, objects caught fire and the fire spread rapidly. The dead and injured could not escape.

The fire department also set up a special team to investigate the cause of the fire, including the gathering situation and the presence of flammable materials.

According to the Information Services Department, of the 18 hospitalized persons, 4 men died after being sent to Kwong Wah Hospital and 3 women died after being sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital; the other 7 people were in critical condition, including 1 male and 3 females from Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
