At 1:00 am today (16th), the police and firefighters met with the media to explain the details. Many of the injured were seriously injured and some were forced to escape from the alley after jumping from the bathroom.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire broke out in a restaurant, and the 7 deceased were relatives and friends, including a 9-year-old boy, who was holding a party at the time of the incident.

District Chief (Kowloon South) Zhang Guangyuan said that the fire department received the report at 8:39 pm and arrived at the scene 3 minutes later. In the accident, due to the large number of injured people, the fire department changed from No. 1 fire alarm to a level 2 mass-injured accident. An additional ambulance and two search and rescue teams were deployed, using a total of 68 firefighters, one jet and two smoke caps.
