Fire in Yau Ma Tei | 7 people are still in critical condition

According to the Information Services Department, as of 9:45 this morning (16th), 18 people who were sent to the hospital were aged between 8 and 48 years old. Among them, 7 were male and female, and 10 were still in hospital and one was discharged; 7 People are in critical condition, including 3 men and 4 women who were admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Wales Hospital, and Eastern District Hospital respectively; two women who were injured in serious condition were admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital; as for Caritas There was a man in stable condition in the hospital.

District Councillor Yu Tak-po said that according to his knowledge, several injured people suffered severe burns yesterday and needed to be transferred to hospital for treatment.

In addition, it is known that two of the deceased were mothers, and the children of the deceased went to the hospital to find out the situation yesterday.

This morning, Hong Kong people also came to the scene to present flowers. A couple of men and women who did not want to give their surnames showed up and put down flowers. The man claimed that he was a local resident. He learned from the news that a child was killed in the fire, so he came to mourn.

He said that South Asians are a disadvantaged group and feel sorry for the many casualties in the incident.

The incident occurred at 8:30 last night (15th) at the first floor of the tenement building at 560 Canton Road, Yau Ma Tei. During the children’s birthday party held in a Nepalese restaurant, a suspected item caught fire and caused a fire. The fire spread rapidly, with many people at one time. Trapped in the kitchen, someone was forced to climb out of the outer wall, and even jumped out of the unit's bathroom to escape.
