At about 12 noon today (12th), the police received a report from a telecommunications shop manager at Sin Tat Plaza, Mong Kok, saying that a man had visited the shop as a salesman earlier.

The man lobbied the male staff to buy 4 stored value gift cards from chain electrical stores for 110,000 yuan. Each card had a stored value of 30,000 yuan, that is, 120,000 yuan for purchases of 120,000 yuan.

The male staff of the telecommunications store did not take fraud and bought the gift card.

It is known that the clerk has not used the gift card since he bought it. When he wanted to use it today, he found that the four gift cards had no relevant amount of stored value. He suspected of being cheated and called the police for help.

The police sent officers to the shop to investigate the incident and search the CCTV for evidence. The case was handed over to Mong Kok District Criminal Investigation Team 1 for follow-up.

Sources at the scene indicated that other shop staff in the mall also suspected of being deceived.

Scammers went to the store to sell stored-value gift cards.
