King Abdullah's half-brother, who was ousted as heir to the throne, made it clear that contrary to the palace's denials he is under house arrest and his lines of communication have been cut off.
The British Broadcasting Authority, the BBC, released a video tonight (Saturday night) in which the Jordanian prince Hamza is seen announcing in his voice that he is under house arrest and all his communication to the outside world has been cut off.
Hamza said in his film that the minister of the commander-in-chief came to his residence and told him that he was documented in the presence of talks in which criticism was voiced against the king and the government but not he who voiced the criticism.
"As I told the army commander, I am not responsible for the corruption, the lack of administrative capacity, which has prevailed in our governmental structure for the last 20 years. I am not responsible for the distrust our people have in power. You are responsible for that."
"Our country has moved in the last two decades from being one of the leading countries in the region in the field of education, medicine and human rights to a place where it is forbidden to even criticize the government," Hamza said.
