Tropical depression heading for devastated Haiti 0:55

Grace is back to tropical storm force, with the potential to hit still-recovering Haiti with wind, rain, floods and landslides.
Tropical Storm Grace was 370 kilometers east of Montego Bay, Jamaica, in the early hours of Tuesday with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
The Grace center is expected to pass near or over Haiti's Tiburon Peninsula on Tuesday morning and move between Cuba and Jamaica in the afternoon, the NHC said.
The storm is heading into an area of Haiti that is still reeling from a 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Saturday that killed at least 1,419 people.

"I am concerned about the coming storm as it may complicate the situation for us," Jerry Chandler, head of Haiti's civil protection agency, said Sunday.

Now the area could face potential flash and urban flooding, as well as mudslides, as Grace dumps between 125 and 250 millimeters of rain, with isolated highs of 380 millimeters, in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, said the NHC.
Grace could get close to hurricane force
Early in the morning on Tuesday, the storm remained close to Hispaniola and will continue to affect the region throughout the day with likely life-threatening waves and rip current conditions, the NHC said.
Over the next several days, Grace is expected to continue west-northwestward, moving near the Cayman Islands Tuesday night and approaching Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula late Wednesday or early Thursday, the NHC said.

The storm will likely strengthen along its path and could approach hurricane strength as it approaches the Yucatan coast, the NHC said.
The area is likely to receive 5 to 10 centimeters of rain, which could lead to flash and urban flooding.
Fred weakens to tropical depression
Fred weakened to a tropical depression over the southeastern corner of Alabama, according to the 5 a.m. update Tuesday from the National Hurricane Center.
Sustained winds from the storm are now 35 miles per hour.
Heavy rains with flash flooding remain a major concern as the storm pushes Appalachians from southern Georgia.
Areas from Florida's Big Bend to the Blue Ridge Mountains could see up to 150 millimeters of additional rain throughout this Tuesday.
