Prose texts replete with the meanings of love chosen by Dr. Rafif Al-Muhanna to be recited to the ears of a group of writers and those interested in cultural affairs during the signing ceremony of his book “Except for Love” at Sami Al-Droubi Hall in Homs Culture.
The book carries between its two covers about 60 prose texts that delve into the depths of spiritual love and its components to move away from physical love as a message and the beginning of a deep reflection on the multiple meanings of love.
During the signing ceremony organized by Mada’s cultural team, Al-Muhanna indicated in a statement to Sana Cultural that the book is the product of several years and the accumulation of texts that have recently come to light, because the talk about love is continuous and renewed, indicating that the texts were drawn from his personal experience as a psychiatrist in the form of approaches to short stories he lived with his patients and friends. Al-Muhanna explained that most of the texts begin with questions to reveal the secrets of the soul and the feelings that go on inside it, which appear in moments of weakness or anger, pointing to the strong presence of femininity within its lines.
Al-Muhanna is currently preparing for his next book, “Diary of a Psychiatrist,” which includes texts about his relationship with patients, which are occupied in a manner that ensures the necessities of literary work and takes into account the privacy of patients.
Dr. Fayrouz Youssef, head of the branch of the Historical Scientific Society in Homs, considered that the writer's attachment to his homeland is distinguished and present in his texts, and that love in his words transcended the level of matter and flew far in the components of life, in addition to the harmony of literature with scientific analysis in his writings.
It is noteworthy that the book “Except for Love” is located in 180 pages of medium size and was issued by Dar Al-Takween in Damascus for printing and publishing. The writer has previously published three books, “On the Person Who Refuses Maturity”, “Child of Windows” and “Very Ordinary Speech”.
