Three times, on Wednesday October 6, Pope Francis expressed his
"shame"
at the magnitude of the estimated number of victims of sexual abuse committed by priests, revealed the day before in the report of the Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (Ciase). It was in public, during the general audience on Wednesday:
“I wish to express to the victims my sadness, my pain for the trauma suffered and also my shame, our shame, my shame for the Church's too long inability to put them at the center of its concerns. ”
