The Pope will receive Jean-Marc Sauvé and the members of his commission, in Rome, on December 9, during a special audience requested by the French episcopate, in order to thank him for the work accomplished.

Three times, on Wednesday October 6, Pope Francis expressed his

"shame"

at the magnitude of the estimated number of victims of sexual abuse committed by priests, revealed the day before in the report of the Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (Ciase). It was in public, during the general audience on Wednesday:

“I wish to express to the victims my sadness, my pain for the trauma suffered and also my shame, our shame, my shame for the Church's too long inability to put them at the center of its concerns. ”

It is

"the moment of shame"

, he hammered, for a

"hard but salutary test"

, inviting

"French Catholics to assume their responsibilities so that the Church is a safe house for all"

and to accomplish

"all efforts so that such acts are not repeated"

.
