The timetable at MVV changes on Sunday.

That brings innovations with it - and increased fares.

We give an overview of what is changing.

Munich - The timetable change is always a date on which commuters have to worry about their money. So also on this Sunday: The MVV will increase its prices again. “The corona pandemic * brought us enormous revenue shortfalls. Nevertheless, we, the transport companies, maintained the offer almost completely throughout the entire period, ”explains MVV boss Bernd Rosenbusch. Compensating for the increased costs is more necessary than ever in order to be able to maintain and further expand the range of services.

The MVV increases prices by an average of 3.7 percent.

The popular stripe card will then cost 15.20 euros instead of the previous 14.60 euros, a monthly pass in the M zone 59.10 euros (previously 57 euros).

Commuters in zones M + 1 between Germering or Dachau and Munich * now have to shell out EUR 95.40 for the monthly pass (previously EUR 92), while the M + 2 monthly pass will cost EUR 118.10 instead of EUR 114.

MVV timetable changeover: the price of the weekly ticket is already hotly debated

There was already great resentment, especially with the increase in the price of the weekly ticket for Zone M: the card will cost 18.60 euros (instead of 17.80 euros) in the future.

1860 - a number that no Bayern fan would want to see.

And certainly not pay, as it is the year the blue rival was founded.

At the BRB the prices rise by 1.7 percent, at the DB in long-distance traffic by 1.9 percent.

The Bahncards will be 2.9 percent more expensive, the popular BC 25 (2nd class), for example, will cost 56.90 - 1.20 euros more than before.

Bahncard sales at DB last collapsed due to the pandemic * - experts doubt whether the price increase will help business pick up again.

Passenger association Pro Bahn considers the increase to be excessive

As is so often the case with price increases in local public transport, the question arises: Can I still travel with old tickets that have already been purchased?

The old zone or short-haul tariff tickets can still be used up until March 31, 2022.

Or you can exchange them and pay the surcharge - but an additional processing fee of two euros.

The passenger association Pro Bahn considers the current price increases to be excessive.

"In view of the desolate S-Bahn location *, the price increase seems like a mockery," says spokesman Andreas Barth.

In addition, he is bothered by the fact that the increase “was not displayed transparently behind closed doors.” The result, on the other hand, can be read on every machine.
