Hama, SANA-The completion rate of the new Hama-Salmiya water line from the upper Orontes River has reached 96 percent of the total

The completion rate of the new Hama-Salmiya water line from the upper Orontes River has reached 96 percent of the total extension of the 82 km line, which is planned to irrigate 2.5 million people until the year 2040.

The Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, said in a press statement during a tour of the countryside of Hama that the line will be fully completed during 2022 in light of the strengthening of its financial appropriations by the government in the amount of 4 billion Syrian pounds.

With regard to the drinking water pumping station and the treatment plant in Al-Qantara in the Salamiyah countryside, Dr. Raad pointed out that the problems and difficulties experienced by these two stations were examined, and guidance and coordination with the Hama Governorate and the concerned parties and the Water Corporation took the necessary measures to complete the studies related to the repair of pumping generators in order to rehabilitate the Qantara station in the countryside Western peace.

He added that the Shumariya wells were also inspected and their water and abundance were examined, which feeds several villages in the eastern countryside of Homs and the southeastern Salamiyah countryside and the population centers along the line, pointing out that coordination is currently underway with the Ministry of Electricity to secure a line exempt from rationing to feed these 7 wells with a total capacity of $ 300 cubic meters per hour.

For his part, the Governor of Hama, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Kreishati, affirmed the governorate’s readiness to remove all encroachments on water pipeline projects and rehabilitate what is necessary in order to pump water to the cities of Hama and Salamiyah and its countryside.

For his part, Dr. Muti' Al-Abshi, Director of the Public Establishment for Drinking Water in Hama, indicated that the Hama-Salmiya water intake line project is one of the most prominent quality and vital water projects, pointing out that the Corporation is making every effort to complete it and end it during the coming period, while removing the infringements on it.

He pointed out that the Shumariya project is currently being fully rehabilitated and infringements removed in order to improve the operations of pumping drinking water to the northern countryside of Homs and Salamiyah and its countryside.
