A problem that was supposedly solved reappears and forces Audi to issue a second recall: Around 100,000 vehicle owners have to repeatedly take their car to the workshop.
Ingolstadt/Munich - The more complex the vehicle technology, the more complex the maintenance: A recall that has already been completed is causing difficulties again at the VW subsidiary Audi*.
As a result, more than 100,000 cars from different model series worldwide have to be ordered to the workshop for the second time.
It's about a problem that was supposed to be solved last summer as part of a major service campaign at authorized dealers of the Ingolstadt company.
The reason for the involuntary visit to the workshop was a faulty chassis setting, which led to excessive and uneven wear on the rear tires.
Recall at Audi: More than 100,000 models have to go back to the workshop
But instead of calm now, many of the vehicle owners have to make the trip to the service company again: Because there was a communication problem between the companies and the Audi headquarters, which led to an incomplete conclusion of the recall campaign.
In around two-thirds of the models, the chassis was not measured again after the correction – although that would have been necessary.
The corresponding work instruction was missing the note - and so, despite the correction, several Audi keepers found faulty tire wear on the vehicle.
Around 150,000 cars drove to the Audi recall for readjustment, and now around 110,000 vehicles from several model series are affected, according to the
Kfz-betrieb.vogel.de
portal .
These are the Audi models A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8 as well as the SUVs Q5, Q7, Q8 and Audi e-Tron.
All cars were produced from November 2019 to April 2021.
Volkswagen recall: In addition to Audi, thousands of Porsche owners are also affected
But Audi is not the only brand in the VW Group*: Porsche and Bentley also had to struggle with the chassis problem.
But while the British premium brand is not affected by the repeat date, fate also befalls thousands of cars from sports car manufacturer Porsche: Of the Cayenne SUVs recalled in summer 2021, another 5,641 have to appear at the authorized workshop for measurement.
There are also problems with the American rival: If you drive a Tesla into the car wash, you are apparently in for a rude awakening.
After several incidents, operators forbid entry.
