Würzburg – The first folk festival in Bavaria has opened after a two-year Corona break.

Guest of honor was Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), who then drove a lap of the Ferris wheel.

The Würzburg Spring Folk Festival lasts until April 10th.

On Wednesday, Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) expressed skepticism about the Munich Spring Festival planned for April on the Theresienwiese.

"Personally, I find it difficult to imagine visiting one, being happy, drinking beer, riding a carousel when at the same time there is war in Ukraine and people are dying every day," Reiter told radio station Gong 96.3.

"I have to see what's happening in this world and then there are overriding reasons that are even more important than holding a folk festival."

This also applies to the Oktoberfest.

He couldn't imagine an Oktoberfest without corona restrictions anyway.
