The Quintana Roo Prosecutor's Office reported the arrest of a man he identified as José "D", el "Bolillo", suspected of participating in the October 2021 shooting in Tulum in which two women died foreigners and three other tourists were injured.

This individual belonged to a cell of the Gulf Cartel, said Lucio Hernández, Secretary of Public Security of Quintana Roo.

The prosecutor of that state, Oscar Montes de Oca, added that the suspect was detained in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua and that he will be transferred to Quintana Roo to continue with the legal procedure.

Montes de Oca assured that they have "video evidence" that shows "Bolillo" at the moment he was shooting at the restaurant where the events occurred.

In October 2021, two foreign tourists were killed and three others injured when they were caught in the crossfire of a gang shootout in the popular tourist town of Tulum.
