"I thought I was having a heart attack," said one of the guests. Another claimed to have "crazy thoughts" and his wife suffered a terrible attack of paranoia.

A Florida bride and the woman who caters her wedding are facing criminal charges after wedding attendees reported that the food served contained marijuana.

After the banquet, prepared by the company Joycelyn's Southern Kitchen, owned by Joycelyn Bryant, some guests suffered discomfort, vomiting and respiratory problems, according to this source.

"I thought I was having a heart attack. I had it accelerated

, in fact, I went to sleep in my car," said Miranda Cady, one of those affected, who knew the bride through some friends.

Police responded to the scene at 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a man who called 911 and said he felt he "had drugs inside."

Agents asked the bride and groom if they had put marijuana in the food and their answer was "no," according to NBC News Fort Myers.

Douglas Postma, one of the groom's uncles, said he hadn't used marijuana for years, according to his affidavit published by The Washington Post.

The man assured that his experience had been different from the previous ones and that this time he had "crazy thoughts".

He explained that he wrote to the boyfriend and he claimed that he did not know what was happening.

His wife, Nancy Postma, was hospitalized for a fit of paranoia that made her believe a relative had died.

In the affidavit, the woman said she went with her daughter to the kitchen to ask for a glass of water when she felt sick and a staff member attending the banquet told them "well, there's cannabis in the food."

The wedding attendees were adults with varying experiences with marijuana.

None were seriously injured.

In Florida, only the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes is legal.

The bride's attorney told NBC News Fort Myers he had no comment.

He was unable to access Bryant's statement.
