Despite the approximately 30 billion euros put in the “Ségur de la santé” in favor of the hospital, the malaise remains deep: saturated emergencies, recruitment difficulties, lack of attractiveness, loss of meaning, deterioration of relations between caregivers and managers, made responsible for the choices of public policies, who, for ten years, have been exerting financial pressure... Faced with this "hospital crisis", unions and collectives are always demanding more resources, more staff and a moratorium on bed closures.

Still, France has 1.2 million hospital workers - up 35% from 1996 to 2020 - with inexplicable differences: there are thus 13.5 public hospital jobs per 1,000 inhabitants in Île-de-France, compared to 20 .7 in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, i.e. a delta of 53%!
