The leisure bus will be on the road again from May 1st.

There are three new stops in the Freising district.

More are planned.

District

– Punctually on May 1st, the leisure bus of the district of Kelheim starts the new season.

The tourist offer for cyclists, hikers and day-trippers will then be expanded to include three new stops in the Freising district.

In the future, the bus route with a bicycle trailer will also stop in Erlau, Attenkirchen and Rudelzhausen.

As soon as the construction work on the through road in the market town of Au has been completed, another stop will follow there, said the tourism officer for the Freising district, Martina Mayer.

The two district administrators of Freising and Kelheim, Helmut Petz and Martin Neumeyer, as well as numerous local politicians from the communities met for a test drive on Tuesday.

The cooperation between the two districts was initially designed as a pilot project.

In the districts of Kelheim, Eichstätt and Regensburg, leisure buses have been making their rounds for over 20 years.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The head of the Kelheim district emphasized that the “Roman and hop tour”, which has been running from Kelheim via Mainburg to Freising and back since last year, has also opened up the Hallertau and the area around Freising.

And he was particularly pleased that they hit the mark: a third of the ticket sales took place in Freising.

"A good development." And that's why the leisure bus line 6030 will continue to be on the road on weekends and public holidays.

According to Neumeyer, local public transport is becoming increasingly important.

Even more adapted to the wishes of the users

With the expansion, the leisure bus has now been adapted even more to the wishes of the users, emphasized District Administrator Helmut Petz.

It makes no sense if families from Attenkirchen or Zolling first have to "arrive" at the stops at Freising train station and at the bus station in Mainburg in order to be able to board.

The mayors of the new bus stop communities had already given a clear signal last year that they wanted the offer for their citizens.

After a thorough examination by the road traffic authority, the new stops have now been given the green light.

"We are grateful that we can join in," Petz acknowledged the "preliminary work" by the neighboring district.

Despite the increase in diesel prices, the fare has remained constant, Petz revealed.

Like last year, a day ticket for a family of up to three children under the age of 15 will only cost 15 euros.
