The IDF soldiers, commanders and employees, Moshe Bersky, immigrated to Eretz Israel with his sister and joined the Degania group. He was killed by Arab rioters in 1913 on his way to bring medicine to the household.

The people of Israel are developing in their land, continuing the building of this special state and recording extraordinary achievements, but the memory of the fallen, as commanded by Moshe Bersky's father, should be a duty and a source of strength for all of us.

This day slows down the routine and frees up time for all the citizens of the country to stop and think about the fallen and their families, to stop and reconcile with the immense pain they regularly carry.
It is a pain that does not rest and does not assume, a burning and oppressive pain, which weighs on moments of happiness and obscures all joy.

Indeed, the son Shalom, Moshe's brother, came to Degania in the same year, and shortly afterwards the whole family immigrated to Israel.
