The winners and losers of a weak euro

The euro plunges to its lowest level in twenty years. Some sectors are more affected than others by this decline.


Agri-food, luxury, aeronautics: the kings of "made in France" have a smile

France, which exports half of its wheat production, is seeing its cereal competitiveness improve internationally.

In the food industry, the third contributor to the French trade balance, some dairy farmers also benefit.

The sector exports an average of 10% of its products, particularly to the United States.

For the biggest, like Lactalis, Danone or Savencia, the strong local production however limits the extent of the gains.

On the other hand, luxury is rubbing its hands: the United States is the leading export market for French wines and spirits, with 3 billion euros in turnover.
