The elements of the fire brigade and the Forestry Department of the Directorate of Agriculture and Civil Defense, in cooperation with the people, put out a fire that broke out this afternoon in the village of Basurum in Tartous governorate and spread to agricultural lands in the village of Beit Zina and came to an area of about four dunams.
The head of the fire brigade in Safita City Council, Hammam Suleiman, told SANA reporter that thanks to the quick response and the cooperation of the people, the fire was brought under control and extinguished in a short time.
For his part, the head of the Forestry Department at the Directorate of Agriculture, Dr. Fadi Diop, stated that the fire broke out in a land planted with olive trees, where 30 trees were damaged, in addition to forest herbs and bushes, including oaks, birch, qulba and others.
Diop called not to set fires in the fields and orchards, and in the event of a fire, call the two toll-free numbers 188 or 113.
