Gewo Feinmechanik in Hörlkofen has started to expand.

First of all, the multi-storey car park with 560 spaces will be built, the new company headquarters will follow as the next step.

Hörlkofen

– Work on expanding the site has started at Gewo Feinmechanik in Hörlkofen.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new car park recently took place.

What the company is planning in the immediate vicinity of the existing Plant 2 will permanently change the face of the place.

At the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, the founding couple Marianne and Georg Woitzik and their two sons, the managing directors Andreas and Stefan Woitzik and their families, welcomed Wörth's mayor Thomas Gneißl, architect Michael Jaksch, Robert Brandl and site manager Marine Liebl from Strassen- und Tiefbau Brandl GmbH and Mathias Müller by Deutsche Industrie- und Parkhausbau GmbH (dip).

In a press release, the company writes of a "first milestone on the way to expanding the site".

Accordingly, when building the multi-storey car park, Gewo decided to build upwards instead of further area densification.

560 parking spaces, including 60 for electric vehicles, are to be created as the trend is “going even more towards electric cars”.

Gewo itself is also planning to gradually convert most of its company fleet to electric and hybrid vehicles.

Gewo: The next step is the new company headquarters with administration building

According to the announcement, it is important to the managing directors Andreas and Stefan Woitzik "that the new multi-storey car park fits well into the environment and that the ecological and sustainable factor plays a major role".

The roof will be fully equipped with a photovoltaic system and most of the façade towards Feldstrasse will be green.

In addition, the entire multi-storey car park with its closed facade to the neighbors on Feldstrasse serves as noise protection.

The company reports that an amicable agreement has been reached with the residents on the fencing and greening: They have tried to respond to the wishes of the neighbors as far as possible.

As reported, the project has drawn criticism from many of them.

Among other things, they worry about the tense traffic situation and fear a reduced quality of life.

The municipal council only gave its unanimous yes to the expansion in July – also to strengthen the business location.

The next step in the new construction project will be the new company headquarters with an administration building including a staff restaurant, a new production hall with two clean rooms for large and small parts, a logistics hall and an energy house with an energy center.

Here, when heating, the base load is to be managed with wood pellets, the peaks with natural gas.

"The Hörlkofen site is secure for the next few decades," says Gewo.
