"We don't get there if we are not attacked",
reacts Emmanuel Quemener, regional secretary of the Alliance des Hauts-de-Seine police union, after the violent clashes which took place this Tuesday in front of the Lycée Joliot- Curie, in Nanterre, between the police and young people, far from being all registered in this establishment.
Coming to end a blockade which began on Monday, the police were, according to them, the target of mortar fire and projectile throwing leading them to respond with tear gas and flash-ball fire.
Two police officers were injured, one had to be taken to hospital.
Fourteen young people were arrested by the police for “participation in an armed crowd while being masked”, “contempt” and “voluntary violence with a weapon in a meeting against a person holding public authority”, indicated the Nanterre prosecution.
At the end of the afternoon on Wednesday, five of them were still in custody.
