Daraa-Sana
The Middle East Council of Churches held an exhibition of small projects for vocational training products in the city of Tafas in the western countryside of Daraa, in the hall of the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in the city of Daraa.
The exhibition includes multiple models for the beneficiaries of the training program in the fields of sewing, electronics maintenance, mobile maintenance, food manufacturing such as cheese and dairy, and women’s and men’s haircuts.
The coordinator of the southern region in the Middle East Council of Churches, Eng. Riad Shteiwi, explained that the goal of the training program is to improve the livelihoods of its beneficiaries, especially those with disabilities, pointing out that the training period lasted about two months, and the number of beneficiaries of the program reached 150 male and female trainees, and the council distributed equipment to the trainees. To open small workshops, grants were distributed to 40 agricultural and animal projects.
Shteiwi added that the council distributed aids, hearing aids, crutches, wheelchairs and glasses to the trainees with disabilities, pointing out that organizing an exhibition of the trainees' products came with the aim of displaying the outcomes of the training process, which lasted for two months, as well as to help them create a future marketing environment for their products or for the professions they were trained in.
Shteiwi pointed out that the council organized, in parallel with the training program in Tafas, a cleaning campaign for the city, in which 130 male and female workers and people with disabilities participated in the city.
