Today, the activities of the fifth season of the Distinguished Student Projects Exhibition for 2022, which was held by the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the University of Damascus over a period of four days, under the title “Together for Innovation and Building”, concluded today, in cooperation with the Syrian Trust for Development and many ministries, scientific bodies, companies and economic activities.

Forty projects out of 195 participating in the exhibition from various public and private universities were honored with medals, certificates of appreciation, shields and material prizes, based on several criteria, most notably the extent to which the participating project can be benefited from on the ground and the added value it provides in the industrial, medical and energy fields.

Engineer Rasha Kirkuki, Assistant Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, confirmed in a speech that the ministry continues to support creativity and invention, based on its belief in the capabilities of the Syrian youth, who possess promising creative energy, pointing to the importance of concerted and unifying efforts to support student projects, invest them and turn them into effective inventions to be relied upon in local production. And dispensing with imports, as well as employing them in finding solutions to the existing problems and difficulties in the industrial field and contributing to the support and prosperity of the national economy.

Dr. Mahmoud Al-Assaad, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Al-Baath University, noted the exhibition’s role in supporting a culture of innovation and creativity and encouraging entrepreneurship among young people through networking between society and the promising energies they have.

Sherihan Salloum, Director of Human Resources at MTN, indicated the company's keenness to stand side by side with the promising young generation and support its tireless endeavors by enriching their knowledge and scientific expertise and opening the door for them to join the company's team to have a future role in developing the sector. Vital communications in Syria and support the wheel of the growth of the national economy.

Engineer Haider Eid, Director of Syrian Telecom Affairs, said that the company paid special attention to linking education with society and developing the educational sector by supporting and financing activities and initiatives that contribute to supporting this process, whether in the laboratories that the company contributed to in the College of Concern or by supporting the Syrian programming competitions for university colleges, in addition To support national teams for the World Robot Olympiad, stimulate creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship for young people within universities, and achieve development.

The head of the student body at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University, Muhammad Salama, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the organizers of the exhibition in order to convey its message and achieve its purpose, calling for the incubation of the projects participating in the exhibition and their investment by companies and relevant authorities in the country.

The closing ceremony included honoring the sponsors, organizing and media committees, and representatives of public and private universities participating in the exhibition.
