The Minister of Local Administration and Environment and Chairman of the Higher Relief Committee, Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, discussed today with the representative and country director of the World Food Program in Syria Kenneth Crossley and the accompanying delegation, ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides, through coordination with the sub-committees in the governorates, to contribute to covering the needs.
During the meeting, Minister Makhlouf pointed out the possibility of benefiting from the program's support in securing a rapid response to the displaced returning to their homes in various regions, including the people of Maarat al-Numan, including early recovery projects and restoring basic services there.
Minister Makhlouf pointed to the importance of continuing to provide food aid, expanding livelihood projects in various sectors, increasing support provided to rural areas, and following up on the implementation of various nutrition programs in parallel.
For his part, Crossley pointed to the importance of following up coordination to implement the developed mechanism for distributing food aid, noting that the organization is currently developing a plan for next year, according to the priorities and required needs, while working to secure the necessary funding, stressing the aspiration to achieve more cooperation to improve response to the needs in Syria.
