For the 150th anniversary of the station, the Walpertskirchener Brettl plays "The Rebel of Pertskirchen".

The piece was penned by Karl Bürger, who was born in Walpertskirchen.

Walpertskirchen

- A train station is 150 years old: That's a good reason for the Walpertskirchener Brettl to celebrate with a play that was written especially for this occasion.

Karl Bürger's one-act play "Der Rebell von Pertskirchen" is performed in the local multi-purpose hall by the theater association.

The anniversary year was already 2021, but the effects of the pandemic meant that the performances were postponed by a year.

Associated with them there is also an exhibition on the history of the station.

The 66-year-old author Karl Bürger grew up in Walpertskirchen and was fascinated by the train station and its trains even as a child.

Until he retired, he worked in the legal department of a large company, founded the local Pro-Bahn working group in 1989 and has been its chairman ever since.

No wonder, then, that the railway also plays a central role in his first literary text.

The premiere for "Der Rebell von Pertskirchen" is on Thursday, November 17 at 7.30 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall.

The exhibition that honors the 150-year history of Walpertskirchen station is also running there at the same time.

The team of actors with director Balthasar Lex is still busy rehearsing.

The fictitious place "Pertskirchen is a village, and it is no coincidence that this place name is derived from our community, whose train station has been served two hours a day, seven days a week for the past 19 years", can be read in the flyer for the theater association.

While in Walpertskirchen this "valuable transport infrastructure facility" could be saved from being shut down, the station in Pertskirchen is threatened with exactly the same fate - due to alleged unprofitability.

On the other hand, the station master (played by Tom Angermaier) rebels with all his energy and is promptly transferred by the superiors as a punishment.

Railway director Großkopf (Martin Fertl) and the head of the global corporation (Lorenz Straßer) are up to mischief, in which the individual and the railway customer themselves seem to play no role.

The mayor (Irmi Göß) worries about the future of her town, and a woman from the city (Somali Kim) fears that she will have to leave Pertskirchen “with the donkey”.

In this theater with singing, Irmi Göß and her sister Christine Pfanzelt create the accompanying songs with their beautiful voices.

The other contributors are Simon Eschbaumer, Florian Hötscher, Martin Mayr, Josef Furtner, Manuela Wilhelm, Andrea Ismair, Andreas Stimmer, Paula Angermaier and Anna Fehlberger.

Sigi Clemens takes care of the technology.
