Stefan Raab is probably working on his own show that could soon compete with the ESC.

Initial talks are said to have already taken place.

And a secret meeting in Budapest.

Budapest – Stefan Raab (56) only superficially said goodbye to the TV business in 2015.

Although the 56-year-old is no longer in front of the camera himself, he plays a key role behind the scenes.

The ESC has always seemed to be his heart project.

Stefan Raab has been involved in the ESC several times

In 2000, the TV legend himself competed in the "Eurovision Song Contest" - with his Gaga song "Wadde hadde dudde da?" he took fifth place.

The musical talent had already composed for Guildo Horn in 1998 and, as is well known, he discovered Lena Meyer-Landrut, who won the ESC in 2010, on "Unser Star für Oslo".

Now he wants to further develop his "#FreeESC".

The song contest already took place in 2020 and 2021, but paused this year.

In 2023, the "#FreeESC" should return - but this time with an international version.

International artists had also taken part beforehand, but mostly those who lived in Germany.

Why Stefan Raab ended his career in front of the camera

Stefan Raab had a successful career in the TV business for more than 20 years.

He became the face of "TV total" and was also involved in numerous other programs.

But in June 2015 he drew a line - a shock for many fans.

Some suspected he wanted to spend more time with his wife and children.

He himself gave the reason that the past 20 years had seemed like he was intoxicated.

"It has to be good sometimes," said Stefan Raab in October 2015.

Will Stefan Raab soon compete with the original ESC?

- According to information, there is said to have

already been a secret meeting in Budapest between Raab, ProSieben boss Daniel Rosemann and those responsible for other European broadcasters.

In this meeting, the idea should first have been presented.

The international "#FreeESC" is to be held in October 2023 in Cologne's Lanxess Arena.

Each country should get its own box, from which the moderation will take place in the respective language.

ProSieben wants to broadcast the show event and sell the broadcast signal to the participating artists' home stations.

ProSieben does not (yet) confirm the new #FreeESC show

ProSieben makes a very vague statement about the rumors on

: "We're looking forward to the '#FreeESC 2023'.

The questions 'when?', 'how?'

and where?'

we will answer in time.” Fans should be very happy about this development.

As early as May 2022, after Malik Harris' poor performance at ESC, many fans were already demanding that NDR should no longer be responsible for the show.

Instead, you want to put the matter back in Stefan Raab's hands.
