The result was as many had expected in advance: almost 70 percent were in favor of the referendum on wind energy in Denklingen.

A good 30 percent voted no.

- Mayor Andreas Braunegger was disappointed by the participation of just under 42 percent.

And this despite the fact that the topic has been viewed very emotionally in Denklingen and Dienhausen – less so in Epfach – for years.

Town hall chief Braunegger had hoped for a participation of 50 percent or more, he said.

Contact with the state forests

Contact will now be made with the Bavarian State Forests in Regensburg and they will be informed of the result of the vote.

You are the owner of the forest areas in the Sachsenried forest, where the municipality of Denklingen had designated a concentration area for wind power.

It covers an area of ​​425 hectares in the sprawling municipality that has more than 5000 hectares.

When Markus Breibinder and Tamara Losert dragged the wooden box with the ballot papers from the largest polling district (Denklingen gymnasium) to City Hall shortly before 7 p.m., the results were already known for a few minutes after the reports from the three polling stations.

With almost 2,300 eligible voters, the low turnout even missed the thousand mark.

Many opponents in Dienhausen

945 adults cast their vote.

Two tickets were invalid.

69.46 percent ticked the yes box for the council request that had been made by the municipality.

288 women and men voted no.

The question consisted of a long sentence;

The wording on the ballot paper said: "Are you in favor of the municipality of Denklingen agreeing to the construction of a maximum of six wind turbines in the concentration area designated by it in the factual partial area use plan, provided that the municipality and the citizens agree to them within the framework of an operator model can participate?"

In Dienhausen – the village is closest to the concentration area in the Sachsenrieder Forest – the number of no votes outweighed 56.

There were only 16 for it.

Postal voters are not taken into account.

Dienhausen has 133 eligible voters.

At least there, participation was more than 50 percent – ​​it was 54.14 percent to be exact (excluding postal voting).
