The city of Wolfratshausen has invested 40,000 euros in the Weidacher elementary school.
Lunchtime care has been expanded and can now be booked until 4 p.m.
Wolfratshausen – The city invested around 40,000 euros in the redesign of a former materials store, classroom and workroom in the Weidacher elementary school.
At the end of the recent meeting of the culture committee, Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner (citizens' association) provided details.
Wolfratshausen: Lunchtime care at the Weidach elementary school expanded
This summer, before the start of the school year, the previous camp was converted into a group room.
In addition to painting, it was also necessary to install new flooring, lighting, a kitchenette and furniture.
The adjoining classroom as well as the corridor and the cloakroom in the basement were also given a fresh coat of paint.
The refurbished rooms are now being used by children in the third and fourth grades.
The group rooms in the Weidach community center are available to first and second graders.
There, the dining room was equipped with soundproofing due to the higher number of students.
“It is always a challenge to find a new corner in the schools”
As part of the expansion, lunchtime care can now be booked until 4 p.m.
78 of 99 Weidach elementary school students are currently registered there – 71 of them in Weidach and seven in the Wolfratshausen daycare center.
At the meeting, the head of the town hall, Klaus Heilinglechner, said he was relieved that the city would be able to meet the demand for primary school childcare for the 2022/23 school year.
"It's always a challenge to find a new corner in the schools," explained the mayor.
In addition, the bus transport of the Weidacher children to the daycare center in Wolfratshausen is secured.
This in turn means that the second bus of the children and youth development association drives seven middle school students in Waldram to the new open all-day care (OGS) of the middle school on Hammerschmiedweg.
