According to the emergency services, he wanted to cross the rails on Schlierseestraße when the tram caught the man at the Werinherstraße stop, where line 18 runs.
He was seriously injured and is now being treated at the hospital.

According to the fire department, the tragic accident happened around 10 a.m.
"In the area of a crossing aid, a male pedestrian was hit by a tram and trapped between the barrier and the trolley," the fire brigade said.
Firefighters had to free the injured pensioner from the railing "with heavy technical equipment", according to a statement.
The man was seriously injured, but details were not released.

According to the fire brigade, after a short on-site treatment at the Werinherstraße stop, he was then "transported to the shock room of a Munich clinic".
