The Moroccan authorities announced the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to ISIS, in a joint security operation with the Spanish police.
“The joint security operation led to the arrest of a suspected terrorist in Morocco, and at the same time the Spanish security services managed to arrest other terrorists in the city of Almeria,” MAP quoted the Moroccan Central Office for Judicial Investigations as saying in a statement today. The three terrorists showed their willingness to launch terrorist attacks and operations, and they also have a relationship with those responsible for recruiting and facilitating the arrival of volunteers to fight in the African Sahel region.
The statement added that equipment, digital devices and publications were seized for the benefit of ISIS and its terrorist acts.
In recent years, the Moroccan authorities have announced the arrest of many suspects who are affiliated with this organization, as the number of those arrested in connection with terrorism cases in general in Morocco has exceeded 3,500 since 2002.
