Arrival in Poland of US President Joe Biden

Earlier today, Joe Biden made a surprise visit to kyiv, promising new weaponry and "unwavering" support for his Ukrainian ally.


US President Joe Biden arrived in Poland on Monday evening February 20 by train from Ukraine, after his surprise visit to kyiv, announced the Polish agency PAP.

Joe Biden arrived after 8:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. Paris time) at Przemysl station in southeastern Poland, PAP said.

He is due to meet Polish leaders in Warsaw on Tuesday, who are among Ukraine's main European supporters.

Earlier today, Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Kiev, promising new weaponry and "

" support for his Ukrainian ally, days before the first anniversary of the Russian invasion.

As a precautionary measure, Washington had warned Moscow “

a few hours before

” of the departure of the American president for his first visit to the Ukrainian capital since the start of the February 24, 2022 invasion of Ukraine, according to the national security adviser of the White House, Jake Sullivan.

Once arrived, Joe Biden announced that his country would once again increase the aid it provides to Ukraine.

I will announce the delivery of other essential equipment, including artillery ammunition, anti-armour systems and air surveillance radars

," he said.

During a press point with his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, he mentioned 500 million dollars of additional assistance, the details of which will be announced in the days to come.

The Ukrainian head of state saw it as an "extremely important sign of support", noting that the two leaders wanted to discuss "how to win (the war from) this year".

According to him, American military aid to Ukraine demonstrates that Russia “has no chance of winning”.

Joe Biden meanwhile hammered that Russian President Vladimir Putin's "war of conquest" was "failing".
