The Europeans were pale on Friday, a year to the day after the start of the war in Ukraine.
While Washington and London announced in quick succession in the afternoon new measures against Russia, the Member States of the European Union seemed, for their part, unable to reach an agreement on the tenth package of sanctions.
According to diplomats, Friday morning's meeting was supposed to be just a formality.
This was without counting on the stubbornness of Warsaw, which persisted throughout the day, refusing to give the green light to this new wave of measures.
Shortly before the start of a crucial meeting of the G7 organized by video and in which the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky also participated, the Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, expressed his dissatisfaction with this new set of sanctions which he considers too soft
, too weak".
