After the temporary tenure of the previous GLA commander Galit Altstein ended, Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced today (Monday) the appointment of journalist Danny Zaken as GLA commander for a period of six months.
Galant's office stated: "In the coming weeks, an advisory committee will operate with the participation of media and public representatives that will recommend the outline of the station's activities, including its location on the national communications map and defining the characteristics of the position of the station commander."
The 58-year-old serves as Globes' political-security correspondent.
In the past, he served for years in a variety of positions in Network B.

Altstein was appointed to the Ministry of Defense by former Defense Minister Benny Gantz in August 2021. Recently it became known that Galant does not intend to extend her term, what is more, she was supposed to finish the period of filling the position. Gantz chose Or Tselkovnik as the permanent commander, an appointment that did not come to fruition due to the election - and it will not be implemented even now.
