The game was launched in a terrible state and suffered from crashes, bugs and crashes. Almost a month after the launch, the situation has been corrected, but it's really not smart

The Last of Us Part I PC (Sony)

Last month she finished the series The Last of Us (The Last of Us) on HBO.

To celebrate this event, Sony released the remake of the first game for the PC.

The same remake that was released this year for PlayStation 5 and you can read the review of it here.

This is not the first time that Sony goes beyond the limits of the console and releases one of its flagship games for PC.

It already happened with God of War and Spider-Man.

To date, Sony hasn't exactly messed up with launches for the PC.

But that was not the case here.

And with a huge brand name like "The Last of Us" it's very hard to understand how Sony or Nutty Dog let this happen.

From the moment we started the game, the problems started to appear.

Almost every big game these days requires shaders build (Shaders Build) which may take time, but in our situation it took almost an hour.

Other players online reported much longer times, so it looks like I got off cheap.

You can't say that in the first week of launch my first gaming experience was stable.

Explosions (albeit relatively light, but present), frame drops and an irregular or uniform pace.

I haven't experienced a single critical bug or, mercifully, crashes.

Again, I got off cheap compared to what I've heard and seen online in the last month.

But this is probably not the optimal way to play.

With a GTX 2070 Super video card I was able to reach an average rate of 35-40 frames, and as mentioned, they are also not very uniform.

And this is after I used the recommended settings of GeFroce and its launcher.

If the game runs smoothly at 60 frames in the PlayStation version, it means that something here indicates poor optimization.

The loading of the game is also lacking.

I installed the game on a fast SSD drive and it still takes almost a full minute (sometimes more) to load the game.

Again: if on PlayStation 5 the game loads in 15 seconds.

Something here indicates terrible optimization.

The days pass and with them also come the updates.

At first these are some small and imperceptible fixes, but then the big update comes after two weeks, and you can finally start playing.

Only not really, because again you have to go through the shaders stage which takes an hour, so we wait.

again.

But in the end you can keep playing.

And what do you know?

Almost 3 weeks since it launched, the game is finally stable.

But that's really not smart.

A player who paid full price at launch expects to get a proper game at launch.

Regardless of the platform it plays on.

And some players are still reporting glitches.

When it runs properly, TLOU is still considered one of the most amazing and beautiful games you will ever play.

On the computer it looks even better than the PlayStation 5, thanks to the advanced settings menus that allow you to play with the graphics and maximize performance.

One of the great features shows you in real time any changes you make in the settings by a comparison image on the side.

This is something that should become a standard in every game in my opinion.

And there is even support for ultra-wide screens.

But I didn't get the pleasure.

Of course, here too you can choose whether to play with the PlayStation 5's DualSense remote (which is fully supported in the Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers capabilities just like the remake), or if you feel like the lord of chaos - go for the Xbox remote, which is fully supported here.

I, on the other hand, chose a keyboard and mouse, and suddenly I noticed how much TLOU becomes a much "easier" game and much less stressful.

Aiming the dashers in a fraction of a second has never been easier, and I found myself playing like a Marine in the early stages of the game.

Maybe because this is already the sixth or seventh time I've played TLOUS since it came out, maybe it's because I'm really much more used to aiming with a mouse, it doesn't really matter.

The game is still fun.

And if you didn't get to experience it - it really is one of the biggest games of the last decade.

It's just a shame that it was launched in such a shocking state.

And the treats don't end here: 3D sound (which with Sony's Inzone headphones made the experience nothing less than amazing), game modes for speedrunners, or even a type of "cheats" that will give you options such as invulnerable, unlimited ammo and all sorts of other things Changes to gameplay.

Oh, and the accessibility options are also available and the Photo Mode is here.

In conclusion

The choice to release one of its flagship games in such a dilapidated state is incomprehensible to me.

I went cheap and experienced minimal glitches and bugs, but I wish it was the minimum.

To date, Sony has had relatively smooth PC launches.

what happened here?

Why not give the development to the people who were responsible for the computer versions of God of War, Spider-Man or even Uncharted 4?

And how do you release a port in such a situation?

It is not clear.

Almost a month after launch the PC version of TLOU has become more stable.

But that doesn't make the situation normal.

In the age of the internet this attitude of "there are updates so we'll fix it later" has already become an epidemic.

It's just surprising that this is coming from Sony, especially after it has proven that it knows how to deliver polished versions for PC, and especially that it happens to such a significant flagship game that is considered one of the biggest in the industry.
