The tolls of the Buenos Aires highways increase: how much does the rush hour cost

2023-05-01T15:56:57.458Z

The new rates are effective from this Monday. They had already suffered an increase in February.

The

tolls of the Buenos Aires highways

increase

by 40% as of this Monday

and the rush hour in the booths of the Perito Moreno and the 25 de Mayo went

to $611.03,

while in the Illia it already costs 254.03.

The new rates are part of the adjustment announced by the Buenos Aires Government, which

had a first tranche in February

, when the jump was 45%.

From now on, those who use the highways during non-peak hours must pay

$431.16 on 25 de Mayo and Perito Moreno

, while on

Illia the cost will be $179.63.

Peak hour is considered from Monday to Friday in both directions from 7 to 11 and from 16 to 20. In addition, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 11 to 15 in the Province direction and from 17 to 21 in the center direction.

On the other hand, the double rate

continues to be charged

to vehicles that are not adhered to the Telepase.

The system is mandatory.

At present, according to official information, 9 out of 10 vehicles that circulate on the City's highways already have it.

Those who do not have the device must use the cash payment booths (signposted with Cash signage

)

and will pay an administrative charge, "which is double the value of the rate corresponding to the time, station, and vehicle category," according to They reported from Ausa, the Buenos Aires state company that manages the corridors.

At the entrances to Illia de Sarmiento and Salguero,

device reading portals

already work .

There, those who do not have the Telepass must enter the AUSA portal (https://cobranzas.ausa.com.ar/) to pay for their passes.

From there, they will be able to know the amount owed and pay it.

In case of not making the payment within 30 days of the passage,

a fine will be sent for dealing with toll evasion.

In

a few months, if the deadlines set by the Buenos Aires Government are met, the Illia highway will no longer have booths and the passage of vehicles will be registered by a gantry that has already been installed on the track.

Now there are works tending to remove the cabins, with which the width of the highway will be reduced.

This is

the Free Flow system,

which has cameras capable of reading patents or Telepase devices from twelve meters away.

It already works on the Paseo del Bajo, which was inaugurated in 2019.

When implemented, it is expected to generate an

estimated time saving of ten minutes,

on average, as well as improve road safety.

On the other hand, the energy consumption demanded by current structures with fixed toll booths will also be avoided.

Increase in accesses

This month the access rates to the City

from the North (Pan-American), West and Ezeiza-Cañuelas will also increase.

The first two are in private hands, and although the State is in conflict with the concessionaires and the threat of ending the contracts is latent, it has

now enabled the rate adjustment.

This Tuesday ends the non-binding citizen participation consultation, necessary to make the increase effective.

From the Government they speak of a base increase of 90% in two sections,

with 50% to be applied this month and the remaining 40% in August

, from the National Committee for the Defense of Road Users (Conaduv) they rejected the call for the "consultation citizen" and affirmed that

the accumulated increases will reach 110%.

Although

the definitive rate tables are not yet available, with the increase, a vehicle that paid $60 to pass during non-peak hours (at Debenedetti and Márquez, for example), will have to pay $90 since May.

And $126 since August.

While in rush hour, those who now pay $80 will have to pay $120 from May and $168 from August.

As for the longer sections, both in the North and West accesses, now you pay $80 in non-peak hours and $100 in peak hours.

Those values will rise to $120 and $150 in May, and to $168 and $210,

respectively.
