Placed in police custody, the respondent explained that she wanted to “help the detainee” whom she was visiting, the latter being a “long-time” cannabis user.

It's no secret to (almost) anyone.

In French jails, joints spin like tops.

According to several studies, including a survey published in March 2017 by the French Observatory of Drugs and Drug Addiction, cannabis use in prison is "

massive or even endemic

".

In most cases, the goods pass through the parlors or “parachuting” in the exercise yards.

Although prohibited, this use often remains “tolerated” in order to guarantee a form of social peace between prisoners and the prison administration.

Nevertheless, seizures are regularly made, both in the cells and in the visiting rooms.

SIM card and cell phone charger cord found

To this end, a control operation in the visiting rooms of the Grasse remand center was launched on Wednesday, involving the police officers of the local police station, assisted by a canine unit.

In the presence of a public prosecutor and at the request of the public prosecutor, all visitors were thus inspected.

Among them, a woman was found carrying cannabis, which she had concealed in her underwear.

"Which allowed him to fool human controls without deceiving the dog

," said a police source.

A piece of 46.84 grams but also a SIM card and a cell phone charger cord were found.

In addition, the search of his visitor's locker revealed the presence of another piece of resin weighing just over 54 grams.

Placed in police custody, the respondent explained that she wanted to "

help the detainee

" whom she was visiting, the latter being a consumer of cannabis "

for a long time.

“At the end of her hearing, she was left free with a date for two legal appointments: an appearance on prior recognition of guilt (CRPC) and a collegiate hearing on summons by a judicial police officer (COPJ).
