Although there are still quite a few electric and plug-in hybrid cars in percentage terms, their number in Bavaria continues to rise sharply.
Munich – The Bavarian State Office for Statistics provided information on the current number of vehicles in Bavaria on Thursday, May 4th.
Overall, the number of motor vehicles (motor vehicles) increased slightly in 2023 compared to the previous year - a strong increase was also observed in electric and plug-in hybrid cars.
More cars in Bavaria - but also more electric and plug-in hybrid cars
According to the Bavarian State Office for Statistics, "on January 1, 2023, around 10.7 million motor vehicles (motor vehicles) with official license plates were registered for traffic in Bavaria".
That is 1.1 percent more than in the previous year.
These include around 8.3 million passenger cars (cars).
Of these, "59.1 percent drive with petrol and 32.8 percent with diesel," according to the press release.

Compared to 2022, the number of petrol (1.1 percent) and diesel (2.6 percent) vehicles has decreased slightly.
The number of electric cars, on the other hand, is increasing sharply.
Registrations increased by 66.2 percent.
There are thus 191,652 of these vehicles on Bavarian roads.
"Your share of the total stock is 2.3 percent," according to the state office.

Strong increase in the number of plug-in hybrids – almost all cars have reduced emissions
Meanwhile, the number of cars with hybrid technology is increasing by “38.9 percent to 430,863 cars”.
The State Office for Statistics also writes: “155,575 cars use hybrid plug-in technology, in which the battery can be charged both via the combustion engine and from the power grid. Their share is 36.1 percent of all hybrid cars. "
Finally, another piece of positive news: almost all cars in Bavaria are pollutant-reduced – 98.3 percent.
Almost eleven percent would even meet the best Euro standard (6d).
