According to Kariv, former chairman of the constitutional committee, the parties must work towards "a moral and substantive unity, based on the values of the labor movement and on the basis of its political infrastructure. A union that will give up-to-date meaning to the role of the Zionist left in Israel's political system... We must work together, from today, in the public and political arenas. To formulate a common agenda and fight together against the dangerous moves of the fanatical government established by Netanyahu."

Before the elections, before Meretz did not pass the electoral threshold, efforts were made to unite the parties. After the elections, Labor Chairwoman Merav Michaeli said: "We were right not to unite with Meretz."
