At least three people were killed and two police officers wounded Monday during a shooting in Farmington, a city in northwestern New Mexico. The attacker was killed, authorities said.
"There are multiple civilian casualties, including at least three who died" and the suspect "was confronted and killed at the scene," Farmington, New Mexico, police said.
A Farmington police officer and another state trooper are receiving medical attention for gunshot wounds and are in stable condition, according to authorities.
Police asked motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area of the shooting while they continue to conduct surveys, on Dustin Avenue and between Ute and Apache streets.
Police said they still do not know the identity of the attacker or the motive for the shooting.
