According to the press release, the stolen ammunition was an anti-aircraft grenade. "At present, it is assumed that it was an unexploded ordnance. For this reason, there is a danger to life if handled improperly," the police warned urgently.

The grenade had been discovered by an employee of the caravan camp Ostseeblick, which is located south of the site. Subsequently, the place was secured with the help of a barrier tape by the police until the arrival of the ammunition recovery service. "When the police officers arrived back at the scene with the employee of the ammunition recovery service at around 14.00 p.m., it was found that the grenade had been stolen," informed the police headquarters.

  • Where? The unexploded ordnance was stolen south of the grounds of the Ostseeblick caravan camp in Dranske (north of the island of Rügen), at the level of the narrow dam, between Wieker Bodden and the Baltic Sea.

In their press release, the police ask for the help of the population. Persons who have been in the area of the site during the mentioned period should report their observations. "Parents who have been in this area with their children are asked to talk to their children about the danger and raise awareness of it," it added.
