Hissam Hussein Dehaini has had a number of weddings. The marriage to a 16-year-old brings the Brazilian politician into the headlines worldwide.
Araucaria – Almost half a century passed between her births. He is 65 years old, she celebrated her 16th birthday in April. And for a few weeks now, they have been husband and wife, as reported by various Brazilian media, including the Correio Braziliense and G1 from Grupo Globo.
He is the mayor Hissam Hussein Dehaini, who heads the city of Araucaria in the state of Parana in southeastern Brazil, which has a population of around 150,000. She attends high school and made it to the second princess in a city Miss pageant for girls between the ages of 15 and 17 last year.

Brazilian law covers the teenager's marriage to the father of 16, according to a report. Because in the South American country, marriages are allowed from the age of 16 if the parents agree. The marriage was concluded on April 12 or 15 – here, however, the information in the media differ – on April 11, the student is said to have reached the age of 16.
Unsurprisingly, the unequal couple nevertheless caused a stir. This is probably one of the reasons why the young wife – the fifth or even sixth in the politician's life, depending on the report – spoke out via social media and wrote to a joint picture: "What honestly counts... is that we don't care!"

However, the wedding also had a bland aftertaste because the bride's mother was appointed the city's Minister of Culture and Tourism two days before the big day. Previously, she held the post of Director General at the Ministry of Education. Her rise was explained to the news magazine Istoe with her vast experience. "She has 26 years of experience in public service, with extensive experience in education and in leadership, consulting and management positions," Hissam is quoted as saying.

However, this explanation was obviously not enough for everyone – and so the bride's mother is said to have been dismissed on April 26, as was the teenager's aunt, who had been employed as a secretary since the beginning of April. According to G1, the first term of office of the mayor, who was elected in 2016, was already marked by allegations of nepotism. At that time, his wife, daughters and brother-in-law were employed in the town hall.
For him personally, too, the new personnel castling had consequences. On April 25, Hissam reportedly resigned from the Civic Party, which he joined in 2009 when it was still called the Socialist People's Party. Hissam did not give a reason for his step, but now he is to govern as a non-party.

Mayor marries 16-year-old: He is a millionaire with a private helicopter and three apartments
According to G1, the Sao Paulo-born millionaire with Lebanese roots made a name for himself as a businessman, with hotels and gas stations. He is said to own several companies in Araucaria. It is even said that he is the only resident with a private helicopter.

He is also known to be a supporter of the ousted Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. However, Hissam only made headlines worldwide after marrying a teenager at an advanced age.
