The work on the new Schopfgraben Bridge in Miesbach is on schedule. As Jürgen Brückner from the city's civil engineering department reports, the dilapidated bridge has already been demolished. The lines, the so-called divisions, which were laid on the underside of the bridge, have now also been relocated.
Due to the weather, little has been possible recently. Due to the rainfall and the associated risk of flooding, breaks had to be taken. However, this has no effect on time, as Brückner explains: "We were lucky that the company was able to get started a month earlier than planned. This time advantage is now helping us." As of today, the schedule, which provides for the completion of the work by the end of October, will be adhered to. The sheet piling is currently underway. Subsequently, the relocation of the divisions under the Schlierach is planned for mid-June. This is followed by the foundations and the construction of the bridge.

There are several reasons why the divisions are being relocated two meters below the Schlierach, explains Brückner. On the one hand, the pipes are always under water during floods. In addition, energy, supply and communication lines are part of the critical infrastructure that requires special protection. "That's one of the reasons why they're trying to get the divisions away from the bridges."
Too high offer rejected
As reported, the bridge had to be rebuilt because severe damage to the structure had been revealed. Due to a lack of cost-effective offers, the start of construction had to be postponed in the meantime. At that time, the city had entered the tender with an approach that was above the guideline value for motorway bridges. Nevertheless, the Miesbach town hall received exactly one offer. And that has clearly exceeded the 1.2 million euros set aside in the budget.
